Upgrading imported machines to Slovak regulations
Bought a machine outside Slovakia — new from a non-EU country or used from another plant? We modify it to meet Slovak and European safety regulations so it can produce safely in your plant.
A machine that is allowed to run.
A machine from the USA, China, Turkey, Switzerland or a second-hand dealer in Germany often works technically, but it is not ready, formally or in terms of safety, to operate in Slovakia. The CE marking, the declaration of conformity or the instructions in Slovak are missing. The electrical installation is designed for a different voltage and frequency, guards are not interlocked and the safety circuits do not meet European standards.
We deliver everything turnkey: we assess the machine, design the necessary modifications and carry them out — mechanically, electrically and in the control program. We take care of safety function validation, inspections, documentation and the conformity assessment including the EU declaration of conformity. The result is a machine you can stand behind as an employer during a labour inspection, and the documentation to prove it.
We work the same way on older machines already running in your production and on machines you want to rebuild or link into a line. Such an intervention can also mean a new conformity assessment.
Typical scope of work.
- Risk assessment to EN ISO 12100 and design of protective measures
- Fixed and movable guards, interlocking devices on doors and guards
- Light curtains, safety mats and scanners protecting access to the working area
- Emergency stop and safety-related control circuits with the required performance level (PL) to EN ISO 13849-1
- Electrical equipment to EN 60204-1 — conversion from 480 V / 60 Hz or 200 V to a 3 × 400 V / 50 Hz supply, main switch, protection against electric shock
- Replacement of components without European marking by CE-marked components
- PLC program changes and translation of the HMI, warning and control labels into Slovak
- Instructions for use in Slovak, technical documentation and conformity assessment including the EU declaration of conformity
From site visit to handover.
We deliver the whole process turnkey. You know the scope and price after the site visit, before any work starts.
| ■1. Site visit | Machine, documentation, origin and intended use |
| ■2. Analysis | Risk assessment and list of non-conformities |
| ■3. Proposal | Measures, budget and schedule |
| ■4. Implementation | Mechanics, electrics, safety circuits, program |
| ■5. Verification | Safety function validation, tests, electrical inspection |
| ■6. Documentation | Instructions in Slovak, technical file, reports, EU declaration of conformity |
| ■7. Handover | Commissioning and operator training |
Typical situations.
- New or used machine imported from outside the EU
- Used machine from the EU without documentation or with missing guards
- Older machine built before CE marking was introduced
- Machine rebuild — higher output, a different product, new controls
- Combining several machines into one line
- Non-conformities found during a labour inspection or audit
The regulations we work with.
Machines placed on the market are covered by Slovak Government Regulation No. 436/2008 Coll., which transposes Directive 2006/42/EC. From 20 January 2027 it will be replaced by the directly applicable Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 on machinery. For machines in use, the employer is responsible for the minimum requirements under Slovak Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll. and Act No. 124/2006 Coll. on occupational health and safety.
We explain what a machine from abroad has to meet in the article Used machine from abroad: what it must meet before start-up in Slovakia.
